Talking about myself has to include all the teachers, professors, and mentors I have had over the years. There is no way to talk about myself without talking about them. I am mostly made up of what they have left in me.
My third grade teacher came to me one day and asked if I wanted to enter the science competition. I told her yes and immediately set about searching for some modeling clay. I had been reading about cuneiform writing and wanted to create a tablet of clay for the public here in the North Georgia mountains. Looking back, I don’t know why they let me enter the competition because my project had absolutely nothing to do with science. It had everything to do with writing, words, and how I would dedicate myself for the rest of my life. By the way, I didn’t win that competition. I think the trophy went to somebody who made a rocket out of cardboard or something like that. But, the flame had been lit.
Later, I found myself actually enjoying American and English Literature class. I wrote poems and they actually got published when I was 15. The day I received a check in the mail for $25.00, I just knew a literary prize was right around the corner. The publisher of that magazine even said he wanted to see more. So, there ya go.
University brought more writing. I wrote countless research papers and was a guest columnist for the local paper. I also made some pocket money writing term papers for others. I’m glad the academic vice president didn’t find out. You know where that would have landed me. I remember writing plays in playwriting class. Dr. Buratti was very encouraging and we staged some of thewritings. Writing for theatre allows me to call upon areas of the mind and experience that otherwise wouldn’t get out. I appreciate that style and structure of writing.
Throughout the years, magazines, companies, corporations, and people have hired me to write articles, blog posts, and ebooks. Too many to talk about here.
Suffice to say, I am a writer in my soul. Words to me are powerful and meaningful. They can create life, cause people to do things, and even change the course of history.
HERE IS MY CV, IN CASE IT WOULD BE IMPORTANT TO YOU!
